هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَّكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَّهُنَّ

“They are a garment for you, and you are a garment for them.”
Quran 2:187 · Surah Al-Baqarah

The part of marriage nobody explains

So much is expected. So little is ever said.

In many Muslim families, intimacy is wrapped in silence. Children are told nothing. Young people are told only to stay away. Then, after one long and exhausting wedding day, two nervous people are expected to simply know.

Some couples find their way. Others carry quiet worries for years — questions they never felt able to ask, and conversations they never knew how to begin.

Islam never asked for this silence.

The Companions — men and women — asked the Prophet ﷺ the most private questions, and he answered them with gentleness and dignity.

  • What if both of you enter marriage without knowing how to talk about intimacy?
  • What if embarrassment makes it hard to ask the questions that really matter?
  • What if myths, anxiety or unrealistic expectations create stress that never needed to be there?
  • What if you want guidance that respects both your faith and your privacy — and you don’t know where to find it?

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is The Intimacy They Never Taught Us about?

It is a guide to the intimate side of Muslim marriage. Its 21 chapters move from the foundations (intimacy as worship, emotional closeness, understanding your bodies) to the clear Islamic boundaries, the wedding night and first weeks, communication and mutual care, common difficulties and when to seek help, and the different seasons of married life. It ends with du‘as, a one-page fiqh summary, myths vs facts, 21 conversation cards, a glossary and full references.

Who is this eBook for?

Married Muslim couples and engaged adults preparing for marriage. It is written for both husbands and wives. Many couples find it easiest to read a chapter privately first and talk about it together later.

Is the book based on Islamic teachings?

Yes. Each chapter draws on the Quran (Arabic text with an English rendering of the meaning) and on hadith, referenced by collection and number following sunnah.com, with gradings given by the scholars named. It also draws on classical scholarship, and where scholars differ, the book says so.

Is the language explicit?

No. In the book’s own words, it “speaks frankly but never explicitly.” The language is modest and respectful throughout.

Does it contain images of people?

No. The book contains no images of people, and no anatomical drawings.

Can I read it privately, at my own pace?

Yes. It is a PDF you keep on your own device. The chapters stand on their own, so you can read one a week together, read alone first, or go straight to the part you need — for example, Part Three if you are planning a wedding, or Part Six if you are expecting a baby.

Does this book provide medical advice?

It includes general, educational health information, checked against mainstream medical guidance, and it tells you clearly when to see a doctor. It is not a diagnosis and not a substitute for an examination by a qualified doctor. If you have pain, bleeding, a health condition or any concern, please see a doctor.

Is it a fatwa?

No. Where scholars differ, the book explains this and asks you to consult a qualified scholar you trust about your own situation.

Is The Marriage They Never Taught Us included in the purchase?

Yes. Your purchase includes both books in the collection: The Intimacy They Never Taught Us (Book Two) and The Marriage They Never Taught Us (Book One). Both are available on your download page after payment.

How do I access the eBook after payment?

When your payment is complete, you are taken straight to your download page. Tap the download buttons there to save the PDFs to your device. No account or sign-up is needed. We suggest saving the files as soon as the page opens.

What should I do if I have trouble downloading the file?
  • Check your internet connection and try the button again — the files are around 7–8 MB each.
  • Try a different browser, such as Chrome or Safari.
  • On iPhone or iPad, if the PDF opens instead of downloading, tap the Share button and choose Save to Files.
  • Make sure your device has some free storage space.

Make space for the conversations that matter.

No couple gets everything right. What matters is that you keep turning towards each other — with knowledge, mercy and mutual care. Let this be where those conversations begin.
